Anti-Foam Concentrate
Foaming in wastewater treatment plants can be caused by factors such as surfactants, organic overload, nutrient imbalance, bulking sludge, and inadequate aeration. Excessive foam disrupts the activated sludge process, leading to inefficiencies and potential overflows in the WWTP.
Anti-Foam Concentrate is an environmentally friendly, water-based additive that controls foam formation in aeration tanks, secondary clarifiers, and anaerobic digesters. By reducing the surface tension of wastewater, it effectively manages foam and reduces the risk of re-foaming or scum blanket formation, regardless of pH levels.

Anti-Foam Concentrate Benefits
- Improves WWTP efficiency by rapidly reducing foam caused by detergents, surfactants, and organic materials
- Lowers the surface tension of sewage water to control foam formation
- Residual anti-foam agents control re-foaming and scum blankets, regardless of pH levels
- Supports stable conditions in the biological treatment process
- Helps minimize foam-related equipment issues and odors
- Decreases maintenance costs and downtime due to foam problems
- Easy to inject into nozzle spray systems as needed
- Can be dripped or poured directly into waste streams to prevent foam buildup
Using Anti-Foam Concentrate
- For best results, drip feed into the influent stream prior to foam formation.
- Normal application rates range from one quart to one gallon per 10,000 gallons of wastewater.
- To eliminate heavy scum blanket in a digester, spray a light mist over the foam with a portable sprayer.
- Once the scum blanket is reduced, continue with drip feeding into the influent stream.
- Drip into the waste stream immediately prior to the digester.
- It can also be poured directly into the waste stream for larger foam volumes.
- Application rates range from 25 to 100 ppm (approximately 1 quart to 1 gallon per 10,000 gallons).
- See label and SDS for safety information.
